JULIA ZHOU

Julia Zhou is a senior at Acton Boxborough Regional High School in Massachusetts and is an incoming freshman at Harvard University. She began playing piano at age 5. She currently studies with Dr. Christina Dietrich at Groton Hill Music School and has studied with Ms. Niva Fried and Mr. Ronald Kmiec in the past. She also began playing violin at age 4 and now studies with Xue Chen.

Julia is a five-time 1st prize winner of the MMTA Bay State competition, four-time 1st prize winner of the Sally Chapin competition, and 1st prize recipient of the Steinway Society of Massachusetts Piano Competition. She was recently named the 2026 Steinway Society Young Artist of the Year. She is also the 2025 Groton Hill Music School Concerto Competition winner and performed the 3rd movement of Chopin’s 2nd piano concerto with the Sinfonia Concert Orchestra. She has also performed with the Seven Hills and Concord Orchestras. As a National Public Radio From the Top fellow, she was featured on shows 376, 446, and HL-37 and delivered solo performances at Boston’s Symphony and Jordan Halls. In May 2026, she delivered her senior solo recital at Groton Hill’s Meadow Hall, which included Beethoven’s Appassionata Sonata, Chopin’s Ballade No. 4, Chopin’s Sonata No. 2, and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2.
