Student of Alexander Korsantia and Mila Filatova

Maxine Park, age 16, from Hanover, New Hampshire, is a student of Alexander Korsantia and Mila Filatova. She attends Phillips Exeter Academy, where she also studies with Silvana Sokolov-Grubb and is a Caroline D. Bradley Scholar.

Maxine is frequently chosen to compete in international competitions, and was most recently the youngest finalist in her division of the Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Competition and the youngest finalist in the Waring International Piano Competition, where she was awarded honorable mention.

She has received top prizes at numerous competitions, including first prizes at the Steinway Junior Piano Competition (three times), Chopin International Piano Competition, Paderewski International Competition, and Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. In the 2019 MTNA competitions, Maxine placed first at the New Hampshire State and the Eastern Division Competitions, the first New Hampshire resident to ever win the division competition in any category. She placed second at the National Competition.

Maxine has performed as a soloist with the New York Concerto Sinfonietta at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, MostArts Festival Orchestra at Alfred University, and Nashua Chamber Orchestra. She recently won the Jeanne Selander Memorial Concerto Competition of the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra, the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, and the Phillips Exeter Academy Concerto Competition. She has performed twice at the International Chopin Festival in Busko-Zdroj, Poland, featured in the “World Piano Talents” Series and was one of fourteen young pianists invited to participate in the 2019 Cliburn International Junior Piano Festival.

Maxine has performed in masterclasses with Simone Dinnerstein, Alexander Kobrin, Anne-Marie McDermott, Emile Naoumoff, John Perry, André-Michel Schub, and Ilana Vared. She was featured as soloist on NPR’s From the Top with host Christopher O’Riley and performed in two of their video productions (A Star Wars Musical Mashup, Fantastic Musicians and Where to Find Them.)

Outside of music, Maxine enjoys reading about psychology, spending time with friends, and writing as a columnist for her school’s newspaper, The Exonian.
