Division II: Third Place – Norman Lu

Norman Lu, age 12, currently a 7th grader at Oak Hill Middle School in Newton MA, began studying piano at the age of 4. It has been said that “Norman expresses natural musical talent’ and ‘demonstrates a great sense of musical feelings.” 

Norman has won numerous awards including the Grand Prix of the 2020 XI Chopin International Piano Competition in Hartford, CT, and prizes from Koffman NYC, William Knabe Concerto Baltimore, Radda Rise International Piano Competition, Steinway Piano Competition, and the MMTA. Norman has given public performances in venues such as New York’s Carnegie Hall and Merkin Concert Hall, E&D Concert Hall of UMBC and Boston Symphony Hall,  NEC Williams Hall in Boston. As a guest performer, Norman also appeared on NYC classical radio station WQXR. 

In his spare time, Norman loves tennis, biking, video-games and enjoys solving his Russian Math problems.
